Samuel Halpern’s Author Story
In Wellsprings of Work, Samuel Halpern examines how people can find meaning and motivation in their careers. As he neared retirement, Halpern increasingly mentored younger colleagues, and in doing so, he couldn’t help but wonder what all his hard work had amounted to. What had driven him all those years, and what could inspire those he mentored in their own careers? He gradually realized that he had strong but unarticulated views on what provides meaning and motivation in work and thus felt compelled to examine and express those views. Halpern used his experiences over an almost 50-year-long career in law and investments as catalysts for exploring larger ideas about purpose and value across a wide range of fields. Wellsprings of Work was his way of clarifying his views in his own mind and sharing them with others….
