David Vela’s Author Story
With the goal of inspiring future generations of diverse conservation stewards, advocates, and workforces, David Vela penned his memoir, Hola Ranger, My Journey Through The National Parks. This work tells the story of a Latino growing up in the farmlands of Southeast Texas. It explores the impact of Vela’s first park experience, reflects on all the people he met along his journey through the national parks, and explains what it takes to work in and protect national parks and all the stories they contain. Vela also sought to use his memoir as a way to recognize all those who protect our nation’s most special places–our national parks–and the history preserved within these treasured sites. . . .

Check Out Our Services
Printing and Distribution
There are only two distributors that will print your book on-demand and distribute to online retailers and brick-and-mortar bookstores: Amazon KDP and IngramSpark. While many self-publishing companies claim to offer print-on-demand, they actually have to go through these two distributors, and they’ll take a chunk of your compensation as their fee. To maximize your royalties, you can cut out the middle man and deal directly with Amazon KDP and IngramSpark.
At 1106 Design, we’ll help you set up the distribution accounts, and we’ll do it in your name with the distributor of your choice. We’ll also upload the files for you. That way, when a book is sold, the retailer takes a cut, the printing cost is deducted, and the balance is deposited directly into your bank account. The difference can amount to several more dollars per book in net revenue to you.
